Parking System Privatization: A Closer Look
September 8, 2010Public/private partnerships can benefit government and citizens – but not in every case, and not unless we carefully check the fine print before we sign on the dotted line. It’s possible that parking operations in Indianapolis is a service that is well positioned to be a good candidate for a successful public/private partnership. But there is not enough information for a thoughtful reviewer to sign on the dotted line just yet – and there are too many unanswered questions. April 26, 2010The Central Canal is a critical backbone to Indianapolis neighborhoods from Broad Ripple to 30th Street and to the long-term viability of our downtown. The future of the Central Canal under the control of Citizens is an important question, and it is concerning that the shift in ownership is not widely known and has not been communicated to neighborhood groups. Campaign Statement on the Water Utilities Sale
April 13, 2010It is not overstating the case to say that proposed the sale of Indianapolis’ water and wastewater utilities to Citizens Energy Group is one of the most important deals ever proposed in Indianapolis. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Mayor’s Office and Citizens Energy Group leaves many open questions. These questions can only be answered through a process that respects the idea that we all deserve to have a seat at the table as well as a voice in the discussion.
